Interview with Helen Mei
Today's interview is with Asian supermodel Helen Mei. Helen is an extremely talented lady who is a champion swimmer, video game player, and aspiring sports reporter. In addition to being a top notch model, She is now branching out into television projects. It shouldn't be long until Helen is a house hold name.
How did you get your start Modeling?
It's pretty funny how I started because it was never really my intention to become a model...I use to hate the camera, whether it be family photos taken or self-photos...but my best friend loves photography and needed someone to model for her so that's how this journey began.
What is your favorite part about it?
I feel with each photo shoot or opportunity that comes my way, I learn more about myself and to take different risks or challenges, so it's always an evolving and growing process for me, which I love. Also, the opportunity to meet some great people and travel.
Is this something you are using a spring board to bigger things or are you content with what your doing right now?
To be honest, I live by the rule where I tell myself that as long as I'm happy and have fun, I'll continue to do it. I do love all aspects of modeling and acting(I have a TV show coming out in August) and am truly grateful for all the opportunities I've been given so far ,so like the phrase goes, "the sky's the limit" and I'm never going to just be content because I love a challenge and setting goals. ;)
What would be your ultimate goal for your modeling career?
Well I do have a few other things in mind which I'm not going to say now, but to continue to work with some great people I've been blessed to have in my life, work with more amazing photographers, become an interviewer during the NBA season(yes Doris Burke, I want your job!! I LOVE watching sports ;) ), and to give back and help others which is really important to me.
As of today, what work would you say you are most proud of?
I'm just very grateful of this journey so far and the opportunities I've been given.
At 5'10" You are a very tall Lady. Do you have a preference for Men to be taller then you, or does it matter?
I know I'm super tall! I even can't believe sometimes that I'm full Chinese too. ha. Well, tall guys are always nice, not to say there's not some attractive "shorter than me" guys out there, but I'm picky so it really depends, and personality does help(not lying either lol). Most guys I've been with are taller though.
When you are not working, whats a typical day for you?
I try my best to workout ha, modeling gigs and emails, I love watching sports(GO HEAT, and they just won! yay!), spending time with my family, watching a movie, going to a restaurant to eat...playing video games, hiking, cars...I like to be spontaneous so my days can vary, but other than that, I'm pretty boring. ha. Oh, and I love writing so I'd love to write more and maybe for a website or whatnot.
Do you have any hidden talents that your fans would be surprised to know about you?
I use to be an athlete-a competitive swimmer and was a 2-time State Champion.
Describe yourself in 3 words.
Just three? Um...I've been told I'm kind, genuine, funny.
Any big projects you are working on?
I'll be traveling with Cosplaystars.com Nina Mercedez, Tera Patrick, & Nikki Delano in New York this weekend(June 28-July 1), then SpoCom Auto and Life show July 15 in Anaheim, CA, then my TV show LFC will be coming out this summer, and photo shoots for other magazines and events as well. Also, meanwhile it's the summertime, check out LaScorpia.com swimwear line where I'm proud to be their spokes model for the cutest bikinis ever!! ;)
Any plans to open up a website?
Yes, most definitely! It will be launching this summer. :)
Anything else you would like to add about yourself?
Not really myself, but I'd like to thank my fans for being so supportive and I truly appreciate all the love they've given me! Also, my family, best friend Alex, friends, and of course my team of friends who were kind enough and believe in me enough to give me great guidance and a good push which I greatly appreciate...you know who you are! ;)
